Spent over six years working with Tulsa Health Department crafting messages targeting pressing issues like COVID-19, countering anti-vaccination trends, and lowering rates of STDs among young people.

AwkHappens Campaign

When the account planning team laid down the results of their research, they had a statistic not easily forgotten. The number of young people 14-29 who’d gotten gonorrhea and chlamydia that year could’ve filled the BOK Center. Who wouldn’t feel the need to act?

Concerned yet inspired, we created a youthful campaign (carefully avoiding the “Hello, fellow kids!” trap) that drew on the spontaneity and carefree nature of TikTok and Snapchat. (All the better when you have no production budget.)

The idea is that awkward things happen all the time and they’re not a big deal. So getting free condoms or an STD test at the health department isn’t either. It’s just one little thing that can make a huge impact.
